WHO WE ARE
We are a cooperative of thousands of Italian sugar beet growers dedicated to ensuring the long-term viability of Italy’s only sugar production and supply chain. By fostering the technical, economic and social development of our members, we enhance the value of their agricultural production through the continuous development of processes and products that advance sustainability in all its dimensions
A Sustainable Local production and supply chain
The strong local roots of our membership and our ability to manage the entire value chain, from field to table, through an integrated and short supply chain are among the distinctive features of our Cooperative.
Production, storage and packaging activities are concentrated at our two manufacturing plants in Minerbio (Bologna) and Pontelongo (Padua), strategically located in the areas traditionally most suited to sugar beet cultivation.
We are continuously improving the sustainability of our sugar beet cultivation practices. In addition to our Organic and RedCert2 certifications, a significant proportion of our crops are certified under SQNPI (Italian National Quality System for Integrated Production).
A Circular Economy Model
COPROB – Italia Zuccheri embodies a circular economy model that maximizes the value of the raw materials supplied by its sugar beet growers.
For many years, the company has implemented a well-established circular approach that enables the production not only of sugar, but also of molasses for the yeast and animal feed industries, dried beet pulp for livestock feed, and pressed beet pulp for biogas generation.
Through its three biogas plants located in Minerbio, Pontelongo and Finale Emilia, COPROB – Italia Zuccheri generates renewable electricity that is fed into the national grid, further contributing to the sustainable use of resources and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
